Love and compassion for our adoptive families is the driving force behind all we do at F to A Bridge.
When children are adopted the services that were previously provided to them during foster care are often no longer available or in some cases weren't a good fit for the child to begin with. This presents challenges for the adoptive family and may result in the break up of the family. This could be detrimental for the the child, creating mistrust, mental and emotional harm.
With the right services, support and training the bonds within the adoptive family are strong and long lasting.
I am an adoptive mother of three beautiful children and a foster mom to their baby sister. I met my husband in Kenya where we both were stationed in the military. We were drawn to foster care when we saw the need for help at a local orphanage in Kenya. While we were there we cared for two boys, in which we stayed in touch with for several years. When we returned to the states we discovered it wasn't in God's plan for us to have biological children of our own but instead his plan was for us to foster and later adopt. We have fostered several children over the years, in which we still have relationships with today, and now have our wonderful, adoptive family. Over the years, we have felt the frustrations the foster care system brings and we want to support you through your journey to adoption. You can learn more about our journey of adoption through a book I published with the help of my children. My wife and I settled in Nevada, after many years of traveling in the military, after retirement, we grew our family through adopting three amazing children. At a time when we thought we were done fostering, God called on us to serve once again and we are currently foster parents to our children's baby sister. I've spend most of my life in the military so I love that I now get to set down roots and spend time with my family. Taking family camping trips and spending time in the garden are some of my favorite things.
I am retired from the U.S. Army and have made Florida my home. Through my service in the military, I've had the opportunity to travel the world and make life long friendships such as Lori's. I've been so blessed to be godmother to Lori's three children and have enjoyed watching them grow. I still work with the military as a civilian and I also enjoy welcoming people to my home by renting it on Airbnb.
I am married to the love of my life and together we have four children and five grandchildren. We love exploring, camping and spending time with family and friends. Raising four children definitely had its challenges but building a foundation of trust, mutual respect, communicated love and encouragement has helped us work through those challenges while creating nurturing relationships with one another. Some of my most cherished moments are spending time with my grandchildren, nieces, and nephews, whether it be reading, building blocks, play games or watching movies. May they always know they are loved, cherished and that I'm here for them.
